This work, by artist Tomer Damsky and her choir, evolves around Hebrew folk songs from the early 20th century, reconstructed and rearranged from ethnographic recordings of the Sound Archive for an ensemble of singers, trombones, and percussion. On the background of the ongoing war in the Middle East, the occupation, and the violent campaign of the Israeli government, these songs are an outcry narrating the intolerable—and sadly, not unexpected—fracture in the Israeli society in light of a hundred years of conflicted ideologies, oppression, and bloodshed.
I had the privilege to be part of this project, live and in the studio from the beginning. album is expected to be release 2026, following 2 live shows of the unique choir and ensemble.
